We have been working getting her to use that big hindend of hers more. I want her driving forward and more responsive.

I have also been riding her in the full cheek snaffle. She is GREAT and has learned to stop on a dime.

Our Monday ride was going great. We were working on our lateral work, quick trotting, quick stopping, and straight lines.

As we were heading around one of the hay fields I sat deep, gave her the cue, and after only 1 long stride we had a nice BIG canter. I only asked her for 5 strides or so. She came back down easily and we went back to work. After a few more minutes I asked for the other lead and she gave it to me.

We ended after I got a full 100' circle at the canter. There is still a lot of work to be done but it was a GREAT ride.

Amber's First Day

After the trailer ride over, that went wonderful, I decided to ride her before letting her turn orange out in the pasture. I did a quick brush, tacked her up and we hit the fields.

We started out at a nice brisk walk. She wasn't too thrilled about having to actually put effort into moving but got the gist of it quickly. When we moved to the trot she was sluggish and lazy. We started going lots of starting and stopping. I pushed her into a working trot everytime until she was picking it up on her own.

Her stops were sluggish and clumsy. That wasn't going to stand. So we started working on her stops. She wasn't too thrilled at first but was soon stopping with her hindend and quickly.

I am thrilled at how quickly she learns and how much she retains. I cant wait to keep working with her. Cross your fingers the rain holds off and we can get a lot of work in.

After a 30 min ride or so she was good and sweaty!
